Creating Community Futures
George Clarke 1932-2005 established The Clarke “Creating
Community Futures” Educational Foundation in 2005.
The key objectives of the Foundation are:
- To help people in a place or a community within Australia to participate more effectively in community and governmental processes to shape the future of their local and wider communities; and
- To facilitate and assist in the research and publication of accounts of George Clarke’s work from 1954 to 2004 and /or of a biography of George Clarke.
The Foundation
Proposals for a research grant should be submitted to the Executive Trustee. Proposals received will be reviewed by the Trustees of the Foundation having regard to the objectives of the Foundation. The full details of the Foundation including the Trustees are set out in the establishing document.
About George Clarke
George Clarke was a founder and director of the Urban Systems
group of consultant companies. Urban Systems Corporation was
responsible for two seminal strategic plans, ‘The City of Sydney
Strategic Plan 1971’ and ‘The City of Adelaide Plan 1974’. George
was awarded the Sidney Luker Memorial Medal in 1972-74 for a notable
contribution to the science and practice of urban and regional
planning in Australia.
George Clarke Archives
The Archives include his working papers, writings, reports,
drawings, photographic, video and oral recordings, reportage,
comments, discussions and controversies in the media relating to
Clarke’s personal, professional and community activities over the
period 1954-2004. The George Clarke Archives are located at the
Mitchell Library.
